The DAISY Foundation
About the DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation is a nonprofit organization created to recognize the compassionate care nurses provide every day. It was established in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes as a way to thank the nurses who made a meaningful difference during his treatment for an autoimmune disease. The name DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System and reflects both Patrick’s illness and the kindness and dedication shown by his nursing team.

The DAISY Award honors nurses who go above and beyond in caring for patients and their families. The award recognizes those who demonstrate exceptional clinical skill, compassion, and professionalism while making a lasting impact on the lives they serve.

Patients, families, and colleagues are encouraged to nominate OCH nurses whose care has made a difference. Each recipient is celebrated for their dedication and for representing the heart of nursing at its very best.

Through the DAISY Foundation and the DAISY Award, OCH proudly recognizes the vital role our nurses play in healing and patient-centered care. To learn more, visit DAISYFoundation.org.
